Priyanka Chopra Is Likely To Be Seen In My Name Is Khan

She may not have arrived in Bollywood with a bang.

But the former Miss World has definitely made a splash in recent times acting in two of the biggest blockbusters Krrish and Don opposite Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan respectively. But, it was her stellar performance as Akshay Kumar’s boss in Aitraaz that has endeared her to the people.

Not one to shy away from roles that offer her a chance to display her histrionics, Priyanka Chopra has a whole range of films that would put her on the rung of superstardom Drona, God Tussi Great Ho, Love Story 2050, Chamki Chameli to name some. Says she,"It’s great to play different characters, and all these films are so different from each other, it’s really fun. Drona still needs to be wrapped up, and Love Story 2050 is ready for release by April 2008, let’s see how it goes."

It’s Drona, however, she is is excited about at the moment, as she is playing Abhishek Bachchan’s bodyguard in the film, and for which she had to undergo special training in the Sikh martial art form. How did she feel doing all those macho stunts in the film? "Yes, I had to train in this Sikh martial art form using kirpans and chakkars. It was a bit difficult and required a lot of flexibility. I did quite a bit of stunts which resulted in the muscle pull. But, overall, the experience was great," she explains. Does she have any memorable moments while doing the film? "I hurt myself during the filming of Drona, and had a bad muscle pull, that’s the only thing that I can remember now, as it still hurts."

She will also be soon working in Karan Johar’s next venture My Name is Khan, which is set on USA post 9/11. And, expectedly, she is all excited about it. It is said that in a film industry, it is difficult for female co-stars to become friends. What does she have to say about it? "No, it’s not true, I have loads of them."

She has gone a long way in a short span of time. But, she has proved herself many a times by delivering one hit after another. Is it going to be Hollywood next? "Let’s see nothing has come up till now." Ask her about the numbers game, and she smiles, "It’s just a category which creates nice gossip." Link-up is a ball game in Bollywood which every actor has to deal with and she has also become one of the players in it. How does she deal with such things? "By not caring about them and not letting them interfere with my work."

Nowadays, actors endorsing brands and becoming the brand ambassadors is the in-thing. What does Priyanka feel about it? "I didn’t want to do ads before. This is my fourth year in this industry and four years seems like a lot of time because I have done so many films during this time. But, I didn’t want to do ads before because I wanted to establish myself at a certain position so that I could do the kind of ads that I wanted to do. I didn’t want to just endorse any product. That’s the reason I didn’t sign anything before."
Priyanka says that she is "very particular about everything that she does, whether it’s the brands I pick, the films I do or whether it’s the company that I keep."
